The cotton ‘chino’ twill material Developed in the mid-19th century for British it has since migrated into civilian wear. Trousers of such a fabric gained popularity in the U.S. when Spanish American War veterans returned from the Philippines with their twill military trousers.

Imported directly from China, they officially took the name "chino" which means Chinese in Spanish. Much more comfortable and lighter than the initial service woollen uniform.

It was not until the end of the Second World War that the military surplus was finally sold to the population.

This cotton trouser ‘chinos’ are particularly discreet and adaptable to all occasions. They even literally changed the history of fashion in the USA in 1960s as they adorned James Dean, Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen.
